Washington Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld announced on Friday that Ed Tapscott will not return as head coach next season, but that he will remain with the organization.

?Ed has our sincere gratitude and appreciation for stepping up to lead this team through what turned out to be a very difficult season,? said Grunfeld.? ?He will continue to be a valued member of the organization.?

The Wizards named Tapscott interim head coach on Nov. 24 after the team began the season with a 1-10 mark and subsequently relieved Eddie Jordan of his duties.? The Wizards finished the season with an 18-53 (.340) record with Tapscott on the sidelines (19-63 overall).?????
