Alvin Williams is hoping to catch on with the Raptors, his former team, as an assistant to head coach Jay Triano.

"It's just a great opportunity," Williams, 34, told the Toronto Star on Monday. "I just feel like I've been away from the game so long and I want to get back involved in NBA basketball."

Williams would provide Triano with an assistant that is more than capable of connecting with the players.

"I think I'm still really in tune with the players," said Williams.

"I know that I'm not that far removed from the game; I know some of the problems that go on in a season."

Sources claim that Triano and Williams will meet in the coming days to work out an agreement.
