Former NBA referee Tim Donaghy will be released from prison after just 11 "hellish" months, according to the New York Daily News.

Donaghy was serving a 15-month sentence on gambling charges, and will be moved from a Pensacola, Fla. prison to a halfway house in Tampa.

"It's been hellish," a source with knowledge of Donaghy's time in prison told The News. "Tim has not been in a country-club prison. He's been in a work camp.

"He was beaten up by a guy who said he was in the New York Mafia, and threats were made against his life and his family."
