A big deal has been made over Hasheem Thabeet's missed workouts with the Grizzlies, but an expired Visa may have played a role.

Thabeet, who played at Connecticut for three seasons, is rumored to want to avoid Memphis, who has the second overall pick in Thursday night's NBA Draft.

On Wednesday afternoon, RealGM watched Thabeet struggle to answer a rather simple question from Jonathan Givony of DraftExpress.com.

"I couldn't reschedule [the workout with Memphis] because the schedule was kind of, you know, I couldn't work out like I was supposed to, like everybody else because I hyper-extended my shoulder working out," Thabeet said after struggling with what to say for several moments.

"And then, later on, when I was scheduled to go to Memphis we found out that my Visa expired, so I had to get to New York as soon as possible to get that done on Monday morning. Otherwise, I would have been deported."

Thabeet then denied rumors that he doesn't want to play for the Grizzlies.

"That's not accurate at all," the 7'3" center said.
