The Pistons are getting close to naming a new head coach just two days after meeting with Avery Johnson.

Sources close to the team told ESPN.com that Tuesday would be the decisive day in Detroit's courting of Johnson.

After meeting at Johnson's home in Houston on Sunday, Pistons president Joe Dumars and the former Mavericks coach had discussions on Monday.

NBA coaching sources claim that both parties are prepared to move on if an agreement cannot be reached on Tuesday. Dumars is rumored to be interested in Cavaliers assistant coach John Kuester in the event talks with Johnson fall through.

Detroit fired Michael Curry last Tuesday.
