Former Memphis Grizzlies point guard Antonio Burks was in critical condition Tuesday morning after being shot during a robbery Monday.

Burks underwent surgery at the Regional Medical Center at Memphis on Monday evening, but was returned to the operating room at around 10 because of internal bleeding, police said. He was shot in the lower torso.

Police responded to a shooting call around 6 p.m. after three men in a purple or blue GMC Equinox or Envoy pulled up to a house at 353 LaClede, police said. An earlier report stated that the incident occurred between 4 and 4:30 p.m.

Burks and four other men were outside the house, police said. The three robbers took money from all five, then shot Burks and a 44-year-old man, who was not identified but was also in critical condition this morning.
