Leon Powe, who signed with the Cavaliers last week, says the Celtics never made him an offer to return.

"There was no offer from Boston. I waited a while, about a month or two, because I love Boston, I love the fans, I wanted to be there, but nothing happened," Powe told Hoops Daily. "Then Cleveland made their offer, and I had nowhere else to go, so I gave them my word that I'd go there. You know, I'm the kind of person... I never go back on my word."

Powe is working hard to come back from major knee surgery and isn't expected to play until the second half of the season.

The forward wouldn't bad mouth the Celtics, but did seem confused by their lack of effort to re-sign him.

"I'm not upset. I know it's a business. But I talked with the Celtics ? with Danny [Ainge] and Steve [Pagliuca], one of the owners. Steve even told me he would try to pay out of his own pocket to have me back," Powe admitted.
