Referee David Jones was unable to finish Sunday's game between the Lakers and Suns at Staples Center, leaving Kevin Fehr and Derrick Stafford to use a two-man crew.

Fehr and Stafford officiated quarters two through four without a third referee and their lack of fundamentals with a two-man crew was apparent.

They were frequently on the same side of the floor, leaving the weak side of the play mostly uncovered.

College and high school officials frequently use a two-man referee crew, but the NBA has used three officials for years.
