The NBA hasn't ruled out suspending Gilbert Arenas before the legal process plays out in the guard's gun-possession case, sources close to the situation told ESPN.com's Marc Stein.

The league typically waits for the legal process to run its course, but commissioner David Stern is considering handing out a suspension soon because Arenas has already admitted to possessing firearms on Wizards property.

Arenas said Stern could be feeling pressure to discipline him even before authorities make a decision on whether or not to press charges.

"Most likely he's getting a lot of pressure with all the stories going around," Arenas said.
