The National Basketball Association and National Basketball Players Association announced today that, in response to the recent tragedy in Haiti, they will contribute $1 million to support the relief efforts. The NBA and the Players Association will join forces with longtime community partner UNICEF and other relief agencies to provide emergency assistance to the estimated three million victims.

Philadelphia 76ers center and Haiti native Samuel Dalembert, who is also a players union representative, taped an NBA Cares public service announcement for UNICEF encouraging fans to contribute to the relief efforts.
