'Develop Don't Destroy Brooklyn' staged a protest at Izod Center on Friday, carrying a couple of anti-Bruce Ratner banners through the stands in a lower section near the Nets' bench.

The protest did not last long, as arena security guards confiscated the banners soon after they were unfurled.

The group's head, Daniel Goldstein, organized the protest to encourage Nets fans in New Jersey to voice their desire to have the team remain in the state.

The Nets are currently scheduled to move to Brooklyn sometime in 2012.

Goldstein sent out a press release criticizing Ratner. It was entitled "Ratner Trashed the Nets So He Could Trash Brooklyn."

"We came to the IZOD Center tonight to shine a spotlight on and protest Bruce Ratner?s trashing of the Nets franchise so he could trash Brooklyn with his abusive and asinine development plan," Goldstein wrote. "We feel a camaraderie with Jersey Nets fans who want to keep their team in their home state. We came here tonight to let them, and Forest City Ratner, know that we are still fighting Ratner?s project and his Barclays Center plan and we share their anger about the results of Ratner?s land grab dreams."
