Carl Landry will likely be the starting power forward for the Kings next season.

Sacramento picked up the option on Landry's contact recently. They acquired him in a midseason deal with the Rockets.

He plans to bring an improved defensive game and even more versatility to an already varied offensive attack.

"A little bit," Landry said of his experience defending on the perimeter.

"I've defended some of the bigger threes ? Lamar Odom (of the Lakers), Shawn Marion (of Dallas). Smaller ones, not necessarily, but when there are bigger threes out there, I think I should be able to do that."

He is eager to step out of the comfort of the paint and cover more space on the floor.

"It's footwork, being in the (defensive) stance, basketball IQ and really just moving your feet," Landry said. "Big guys usually just stand and bang."
