The NBA's players are well aware of the tampering rules that the league sets in place in regard to free agency.

Dallas owner Mark Cuban and Phoenix general manager Steve Kerr was each fined different amounts on Saturday for separate incidents involving comments made publicly about soon-to-be free agents.

"There's a rule that you can't solicit any player or coach during the season," Celtics guard Ray Allen said Saturday night.

"The most significant incident I've seen was with Joe Smith. I don't know the particulars, but after that, I'm like, don't call me until July 1."

Allen was then asked if he remembers free agency attracting as much attention as it has in recent years, especially this one.

"Not on such a grand scale," he said. "But I remember when San Antonio re-signed Tim Duncan.

"LeBron [James], being at the height of his game, and coming off two MVPs, I don't think a player like that has ever hit the market."
