It was reported on Monday that the Mavericks might be looking for another second round pick in addition to No. 50, but it appears that they might be aiming a little higher.

The Dallas Morning News reports that the Mavericks are trying to move into the middle of the first round, according to sources.

Teams drafting in the middle of the first round might be willing to part with their pick if they are able to package it with a player, which would help them reduce their payroll.

"We're active as always and we're in the mix on a number of situations," president Donnie Nelson said. "If the opportunity presents itself, we'll squeeze the trigger."
