The Lakers finished off their summer league schedule on Thursday without recording a single victory, but they were really only concerned with one thing: the triangle offense.

Chuck Person, acting as coach of the Lakers, refreshingly admitted that the win/loss aspect means nothing in Las Vegas. The two-time defending champions were instead looking for players that can make the cuts and reads necessarily under Phil Jackson?s system of choice.

?The Summer League is never about winning,? Person said. ?For us it?s about whether guys can pick up the triangle system and make the proper reads. Can they defend the way we like to defend? Also, can they do the simple things that make the triangle work so well? We?re not looking for individual play or whether a guy can take a guy one-on-one, but can he make a pass and make a cut? Can he deliver a pass to a guy cutting to the basket? Those are the types of things we?re looking for.?

Derrick Caracter, who was dominant in the team?s first four contests, struggled against San Antonio. According to the 58th overall pick, he was doing his best to run the offense the way Los Angeles prefers.

?We?re disappointed that we lost, but I think after our first and second game guys just started looking for different things,? Caracter told RealGM. ?Guys started playing outside the triangle and that hurt us. The triangle is not made to more for a lot of one-on-one situations, a lot of dribble situations, and that?s what he did today.?

Caracter had a point, especially in the second half, the Lakers became a selfish team and committed 19 turnovers in the 40-minute game.
