Don Nelson has one year remaining on his contract as head coach of the Warriors and it appears likely that new owner Joe Lacob will allow him to finish his commitment due to a lack of time to install a replacement.

Marcus Thompson II of the Oakland Tribune points out that the sale was only announced on July 15 and Lacob and co-owner Peter Guber are still working to get a group of minority investors on board.

Lacob expects the sale to be finalized in September, which is shortly before training camp begins.

Usually, a coaching staff begins preparations for the new season weeks before camp opens.

One of Nelson's assistants, Keith Smart, is believed to be a likely successor.
