The Warriors have been protecting rookie guard Jeremy Lin from being bombarded with media requests as the regular season approaches.

Lin, a former Harvard standout, was signed as an undrafted free agent by his hometown NBA team.

He has the opportunity to become the first Asian-American player in the NBA since the mid 1950s.

Lin is battling with former Kansas guard Aaron Miles for Golden State's third point guard slot.

"It's obviously fun and exciting, but every day you are coming to work," he said. "At the same time, I'm really excited, but then on the other hand, I'm serious about everything because there's a lot to be learned."
