Lakers guard Derek Fisher passed Portland's Andre Miller on Tuesday night to become the NBA's active leader in consecutive games played.

Miller had played 632 games straight but was suspended for Tuesday's game against the Suns for a flagrant foul he had on Clippers forward Blake Griffin on Sunday.

Fisher now stands alone with 434 consecutive games played.

"It's just symbolic of the decision I think a lot of people are faced with on a daily basis," Fisher said. "There are good days and bad days, but the most important thing is when you wake up the next morning, you're blessed to see the next day. You strap on the shoes and you go to work.

"There's a lot of people in this country and around the world that make that decision every day. I take a lot of pride in it from that perspective. Not really about me personally or athletically what it means but, I watched my parents and my dad and my mom wake up every morning and go to work when they had to."
