Without directly discussing the Carmelo Anthony sweepstakes, Donnie Walsh said it is likely that the Knicks can trade for a first-round draft pick if they wish to do so.

"I'm feeling very confident we can be in position to get a first-round pick if we want it," Walsh said.

The earliest first-round pick the Knicks currently have available to trade is their 2014 selection.  Anthony Randolph's name has been mentioned in previous trade talk involving New York's attempt to acquire a pick.

Walsh also praised Billy King and said he doesn't think that King's trade for draft picks this week was only about preparing the Nets to make an offer to Denver for Anthony.

"Billy's going to rebuild the team through the draft, and he can use those draft choices to trade with other players," Walsh said.
