The Magic will try to treat the left knee of Brandon Bass without surgery.

Doctors aren't convinced that the forward's pain to due to torn meniscus cartilage, according to Stan Van Gundy.

"The problem is, if it's not the meniscus and you go in there, you can go in and trim up the cartilage a little bit," Van Gundy said. "But if that wasn't what was causing the pain, then he'd be in the same situation."

Bass hurt the knee last Thursday against the Knicks, but he was in the starting lineup against the Warriors on Monday.

"I was kind of saddened about the situation," Bass said. "But hopefully things will continue to get better, as they have, and I continue to help the team get wins."

Team officials claim the injury won't speed up their search for a big man.
