Adrian Wojnarowski describes Carmelo Anthony as a pawn in a larger contest of competing agendas.

The latest deal that would send Anthony to New Jersey is disliked by Denver owner Stan Kroenke, who wants to see greater cost savings in any trade that moves the team's franchise player.

Anthony's representatives, Leon Rose and William Wesley, are pushing their client to the Nets.  Rose wants to satisfy his other client Rip Hamilton's desire to leave Detroit and Wesley wants to gain entry into the empire of New Jersey owner, Mikhail Prokhorov.

The Nuggets have been telling Anthony that the Knicks don't have the pieces to complete a trade and are not trying hard to get a deal done, claims that are untrue.
