Bruins coach Ben Howland wants to see UCLA improve their defense heading into the latter part of the season.

“Our defense in the second half was really porous,” Howland said following their recent 85-74 loss to Arizona. “They shot 60 percent from the field (in the second half) and you can't expect to win on the road when you allow that.”

Arizona's 52 percent shooting from the floor came in large part from fast break opportunities — UCLA's transition defense gave the Wildcats 14 fast-break points.

“Transition bothered us in both halves,” Howland said.
