The Chicago Bulls (38-16) made a statement on Thursday night by defeating the San Antonio Spurs (46-10) at the United Center. Derrick Rose starred with 42 points, eight assists and five rebounds, Luol Deng posted 19 points, seven boards and five dimes and Carlos Boozer added 15 points and six rebounds. Both teams attempted 80 field goals and shot within five percentage points of one another, but Chicago had a +12 rebounding differential. Tony Parker had 26 points and four assists, Tim Duncan tallied 14 points and nine rebounds and Manu Ginobili scored 16 points on 6-for-18 shooting.

The Dallas Mavericks (40-16) outlasted the Phoenix Suns (27-27) at the US Airways Center. Dirk Nowitzki scored 35 points on 13-for-18 shooting, Tyson Chandler tallied 12 points and 12 rebounds and Jason Kidd helped with six points, 12 assists and eight boards. Both teams shot over 51% from the field in a fast-paced game. Channing Frye led with 24 points and eight rebounds, Steve Nash posted 15 points and 14 assists and Robin Lopez put up 13 points and 13 rebounds in the loss.
