The Knicks have increased their offer to Denver for Carmelo Anthony, including Danilo Gallinari in the package.

The standing offer is now Gallinari, Raymond Felton, Wilson Chandler and Eddy Curry's expiring contract for Anthony, Chauncey Billups and Anthony Carter.

"There are other elements involved," said a source from the Knicks.

This refers to the belief that acquiring Anthony now will lead to New York signing Chris Paul in 2012 when he becomes a free agent and cap space is created by the expiring contract of Chauncey Billups. Like Anthony and LeBron James, Paul is represented by CAA.
