Jason Williams(notes) has decided to retire after a 12-year career, the Memphis Grizzlies announced today.

Williams, 35, signed with Memphis as a free agent on Feb. 7 but missed the team's final 17 regular-season games with a sore lower back. In addition to two stints with the Griz, Williams played for the Sacramento Kings, Miami Heat and Orlando Magic.

The 6-1 guard won the 2006 NBA Championship with Miami.

Williams' contract with the Griz included a player option for the 2011-12 season.
