David Stern said Thursday he had "no announcement to make" regarding any postponements or cancelations, but they seem increasingly likely after another negotiating session ended without a breakthrough on a new collective bargaining agreement.

Stern acknowledged that "the calendar is not our friend" when it comes to keeping the NBA season intact.

Stern and the owners' top leaders met for about five hours with executives from the players' association. Neither side revealed much after the meeting beyond that they hoped to talk again next week.

One source told Adrian Wojnarowski that both the NBA and union dug in during Thursday's meeting and no progress was made.
