Magic GM Rob Hennigan reached out to Dwight Howard on Wednesday night in an attempt to see if he would reconsider remaining with the franchise.

Trade talks between the Magic and Nets broke off when Brook Lopez was on the verge of signing a deal with the Bobcats.

Lopez signed his contract with Brooklyn on Wednesday, which eliminates them from trading for Howard until January 15th at the earliest.

Team president Alex Martins was also on the call as the new regime wanted a chance to build around Howard.

Howard was unwilling to budge from his desire to be traded.

"I already heard that from the other guy on the phone," said Howard, according to the source.
