Mo Williams had a successful procedure Wednesday in New York to remove two pins from his injured right thumb.

While a timetable is still unclear, the procedure represented Williams' first step toward returning to the lineup for the Utah Jazz.

Williams has missed the last 25 games due to the torn ligaments in his thumb, which he sustained on Dec. 22 in Miami.

Williams will begin rehabilitating as soon as he returns to Salt Lake City.

The Jazz are 18-11 without Williams this season.
