After first straining his abdominal on March 10 against the Los Angeles Lakers, Marco Belinelli sat out Sunday’s game for an extra day of rest and could possibly return to the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday, a source close to the guard told RealGM.

Belinelli had played the past five games with his ab strain, averaging 10.5 points and 4.3 rebounds in that span. Once the injury was too painful to play through on Sunday, Belinelli and the Bulls decided he would benefit from additional rest prior to the next game.

For now, Belinelli isn’t fully sure if he will play in Wednesday's home game against the Miami Heat, but he’s going to continue therapy and will decide with the Bulls’ training staff about his status. Tom Thibodeau termed Belinelli as day-to-day.

After a slow start to the season, Belinelli has given the Bulls tremendous stretches of scoring and shooting. He’s averaging almost 14 points on 40.4 percent three-point shooting as a starter this season in place of Rip Hamilton.
