Kawhi Leonard will become a free agent in July, but both he and the San Antonio Spurs have a mutual interest to sign a new contract.

The Spurs are unworried about ramifications with the salary cap in order to keep Leonard.

“I don’t know that I’m worried about [the cap],” R.C. Buford said. “It is what it is. We’ll deal with the guidelines. I hope that Kawhi is with us for a long time, and I know that’s no secret to Kawhi or his family.”
