The New York Knicks have had discussions about trading for the contract of David Lee.

The Knicks are first exploring their options in free agency, but could deal for Lee if cap space remains.

The Golden State Warriors need to unload Lee's contract to save on the luxury tax and will have to attach assets for the trade.

Lee's contract expires after the 15-16 season.

ESPN's Ramona Shelburne also reports the Los Angeles Lakers will have interest in trading for Lee if they are unable to sign their top free agent targets. The Lakers acquired an additional first round pick in 2015 for taking on the contract of Jeremy Lin.
