When J.R. Smith signed his four-year, $57 million deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers, there were conflicting reports on how it was structured with some incorrectly reporting that it descended in value.

Smith will earn $12.8 million in 16-17, $13.76 million in 17-18, $14.72 million in 18-19 and $15.68 million in 19-20.

The final season of Smith's deal is nearly 25 percent guaranteed at $3.87 million, which the Cavaliers must decide upon early in the 2019 offseason.

Smith will either earn $45.15 million over three seasons or $57 million over four, which gives Smith an annual average of $15.05 million or $14.25 million respectively.
