The Boston Celtics are active in trade talks leading to the deadline as either a main participant or facilitator.

To date, there has not been any traction on any deals that would tempt Danny Ainge to trade away any of his top assets.

“Danny’s let it be known that he’s willing to talk about the Nets’ picks,” said one league executive. “But you want one of those guys, you have to be willing to give up a star.”

Boston are reluctant to make any move that could take away their chances of operating with cap space in free agency this offseason. Ainge, however, would likely trade for a player such as Jimmy Butler or Paul George should either player become available.

The Celtics don't mind their position near the top of the Eastern Conference.
