Kevin Durant will agree upon a two-year, $53 million deal with the Golden State Warriors.

Durant will have a player option for the 18-19 season.

Durant could have signed a one-plus-one contract starting at $30.1 million, which would have also allowed them to re-sign Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston.

Durant's starting salary for 17-18 could have been $34.65 million and been a five-year, $201 million deal as Stephen Curry signed.

Durant was prepared to take even less money if Iguodala signed elsewhere in order to pursue Rudy Gay.

As Anthony Slater of the San Jose Mercury News notes, Durant is essentially re-signing for $9.5 million less than his eligible max, $6.8 million less than expected and $1.54 million less than he made last season.

Adrian Wojnarowski explained Durant's thought process in taking less money two days after the signing on ESPN's Mike & Mike.

"I think Kevin loves being there so much," said Wojnarowski. "I think being a part of that team, a part of that group. I think the experience was just so great for him.

"I think he felt that guys sacrificed by him coming in. Roles change. Players who had a higher profile. I think that's his nature. He's a giving, selfless guy. I think that fits in with his nature. I think it's his way to saying, it's a lot easier as a teammate when you're the focus of everything, you're getting the shots, you're getting all of the attention. When you do something like that, it really limits any resentment."
