The Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics are engaged in active trade talks centered around Kyrie Irving for Isaiah Thomas.

Irving requested a trade from the Cavaliers in July.

Thomas will be a free agent in 2018 while Irving has a player option for the 2019 offseason.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic and pick(s) will be included in Boston's package to Cleveland for Irving. Wojnarowski reports that the agents and front office executives from both sides categorize the trade as close. The Cavaliers haven't had traction with any Western Conference teams and have been focused on engaging the Celtics.
