LaMarcus Aldridge and the San Antonio Spurs are engaged in serious talks on a contract extension.

Aldridge can reach an agreement with the Spurs that allows him to opt in to the $22.3 million player option on his 2018-19 contract and extend his deal for a maximum of three additional years.

Aldridge could amend his contract during the season to eliminate his 2018-19 player option and extend for an additional four seasons if he's unable to agree upon an extension by Monday's deadline.

The Spurs and Aldridge have been mutually dissatisfied with certain aspects of the relationship, but both sides understand the value of an extension.
