Patrick McCaw remains a restricted free agent without an apparent end in sight and sources say his situation with the Golden State Warriors is as much about opportunity as it is money.

The Warriors offered McCaw a two-year deal worth more than his qualifying offer of $1.7 million with a team option in Year 2.

McCaw's agents urged him to either sign for the qualifying offer or the two-year deal, but he has declined both so far.

McCaw and his father believe a more expansive role is the best thing for his growth and eventual earning potential.

McCaw had a number of injuries last season that cut into his playing time.

“I’m not going to answer this every day,” said Steve Kerr on Tuesday when asked about McCaw. “He’s not here. You can ask Bob (Myers). Bob will give you something. We’re not going to have this give and take every day because I honestly have no idea what’s happening.”
