Anthony Davis continues to weigh how to structure his next contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, sources tell Brian Windhorst of ESPN.

Davis is trying to gauge how the salary cap will grow over the next few years and has been looking at spreadsheets trying to best guess how to plan for future contracts that will be richer than this one.

Davis' decision-making is independent of LeBron James, who just signed a contract extension through 2023.

The Lakers acquired Davis via trade in 2019 and they cannot offer him a supermax contract. Davis can sign for 35 percent of the cap in 2022.
