The Golden State Warriors had some level of interest in James Harden prior to Klay Thompson sustaining a season-ending torn right Achilles.

The Warriors cast a wide hypothetical net in their attempt to return tot title contention. While the Warriors were intrigued by the possibility of moving Harden into the Kevin Durant role, they thought the move would sacrifice the long-term for a short-term gain. The Warriors almost certainly would have built a package for Harden around the No. 2 pick in last month's draft, Minnesota's first round pick in 2021 and Andrew Wiggins.

The Warriors have moved on from what was always a passing thought in Harden.

The Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers are considered the most probable destinations for Harden.
