Indiana Pacers President of Basketball Operations Kevin Pritchard said the team plans to pick up their 2021-22 team option for guard Edmond Sumner. Sumner will return to Indiana for $2.3 million next season.

Sumner was drafted by the Pacers in the second round of the 2017 NBA Draft. He was one of the first players to agree to a two-year Two-Way contract. Sumner spent the majority of his rookie season rehabbing from an injury. The following year, Sumner signed a standard contract with the Pacers after outplaying his Two-Way status. He then signed his current three-year contract in the summer of 2019.

Last season, Sumner saw his most extensive action, as he played in 53 games with 24 starts. He averaged 7.5 points per game on an impressive 52.5% from the field. Sumner also hit 39.8% on three-pointers, while providing solid defense.
