The Brooklyn Nets to this point have taken their time with trade discussions for both Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Despite the Los Angeles Lakers desire to trade for Irving, the Nets won't rush into a deal.

Brooklyn is focused on putting together a Kevin Durant trade first. After that, they'll move on to finding a deal for Irving.

However, timing being right won't simply be enough. The Nets reportedly won't swap Irving for Russell Westbrook without the Lakers adding in draft pick compensation in the terms of first-round picks. Los Angeles can now trade their 2027 and 2029 first-round picks, without having to make any adjustments to picks they owe to the New Orleans Pelicans.
