LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to a two-year, $97.1 million extension.

The deal includes a 15 percent trade kicker and includes a player option for the 24-25 season.

James had been due to enter the final season of his contract with the Lakers at $44.5 million.

With the extension, James passes Kevin Durant to become the highest earning player in NBA history with $532M in guaranteed money.

There were not teams with potential cap space during the 2023 offseason that would have interested James in free agency. James is ineligible to be traded until after the 22-23 season.
