The third round of our ?Be an NBA GM? contest opens up with a battle between two extremes in the Eastern Conference. Allen Iverson is a six foot scoring guard from the Philadelphia 76ers. He?s also a veteran on the downside of his career. On the other hand, Chris Bosh is a long and tall power forward for the Toronto Raptors, whose career is just beginning. Call it old versus new in the East, and the call it is yours. Vote today!

The Case for Iverson

A ten-year NBA veteran, Iverson has cemented himself as one of the league?s best players. AI?s career numbers reflect those of an MVP, (28.0 points, 6.1 assists, 3.9 assists, and 2.3 steals per game). The former first overall pick might have been involved in trade rumors this summer, but no one can question his talent.

The Case against Iverson

As good as Iverson is he is on the downside of his career, evidenced by the Sixers eagerness to deal him this off-season. He has taken quite a physical pounding over his ten seasons in the NBA. In addition to his age he has also been somewhat of a public relations problem. Who could forget the infamous ?practice? comment?

The Case for Bosh

While Bosh may not have the all-star appearances and the MVP that Iverson has, he does have time on his side. At just twenty-two years of age Bosh has a long future ahead of him. In his three years of service in Toronto he has improved drastically from season-to-season. With the supporting cast that new GM Bryan Colangelo has placed around him, Bosh might finally get a taste of playoff action in 2007.

The Case against Bosh

Although he has improved on his size since his rookie year, Bosh is still a small power forward. He stands 6?10? tall and weighs around 230 pounds, but he looks more like a totem pole than a towering oak. His slender frame could make for tough interior battles when the games start meaning something in Toronto. Other than that he doesn?t have too many weaknesses. He could stand to use his long arms to swat more shots, but improvement is always possible.
