The NBA?s 2007 All-Star weekend was one of the most elaborate events in league history. There was no shortage of Hollywood presence, with James Denton, Penny Marshall, Eva Longoria and Puff Daddy in attendance. Wait?is it Puff or Puffy?or maybe it?s P.Diddy or just Diddy?I can?t keep track and don?t really care to.

Regardless, this year?s All-Star weekend was one of the most entertaining of all-time. In addition to the four traditional events, we saw Kenny Smith outgun Reggie Miller (that?ll only happen once), Charles Barkley backpedal his way to a sprint victory over Dick Bavetta in front of 18,000, and Tony Parker show some of the French magic.

The events this year had the feel of a true league-wide effort. While watching the hours upon hours of coverage this weekend I decided to reflect on what I saw as I took it all in.

The Friday Night Events
Does anyone else think Monta Ellis looks a little bit like Reggie Miller?

David Lee is the twenty-first century version of the Great White Hope.

Despite Lee?s perfect performance, Chris Paul should have won the Rookie-Sophomore MVP.

I?m not sure that the Rookies will ever beat the Sophomores again. Although, they?ll have a good shot next year if Oden and Durant make the jump.

It?s good to see Ernie Johnson healthy once again.

Charles Barkley makes watching the NBA on TNT more fun than on any other network.

Craig Sager has better style than any player in the entire league.

All-Star Saturday Night
Detroit was handed a victory once again when Ben Gordon jumped the gun in the Shooting Stars contest.

Anyone interested in seeing a footrace between Charles Barkley and Bill Laimbeer?

I think Scottie Pippen is going to have a tough time finding an employer after his performance on Saturday night.

I wasn?t surprised when Kobe Bryant failed to pass the ball in the finals of the Skills Competition.

Do the Heat have a monopoly on the Saturday Night events?

Nope, I just realized that the Heat don?t have anyone in the Dunk contest.

How fun was Dick Bavetta? He was all business and the race didn?t have any real meaning. Did you see the blood on his knee?

My laptop shook on the East Coast was ?Sir Cumference? hit the hardwood at the finish line.

Did anyone see the Three-Point contestants checking out the Barkley-Bavetta race?

Jason Kapono represented UCLA well, shooting the lights out against far more-established players like Dirk Nowitzki and Gilbert Arenas.

Britney Spears has less hair then anyone I saw at All-Star weekend.

Have bad did Jason Terry stink in up? It was almost like it was the last few games of the 2006 Finals.

Why did Dirk shave his head again? His shot looks so much more fluid when he has a flowing mane.

As much as Tyrus Thomas wanted to win the money in the Dunk Contest, he sure did come to play.

Dwight Howard?s sticker dunk was one of the most impressive things I?ve ever seen. There had to be some kind of conspiracy against the Big Fella.

Gerald Green is a high-flyer. Too bad he?s on the Celtics.

My girlfriend thinks Nate Robinson is cute.  I think it?s because she?s taller than him.

I?m glad Nate finally made that damn dunk (Michael Jordan is a tough one to impress).

I hope these guys donate the money to charities, name one of the participants that actually needs that extra income? (Other than Tyrus Thomas).

Boston finally has something to cheer about that?s basketball-related!

One of the better all-star Saturday nights, I can?t wait for next year.

The Game

Early on it seems more competitive than in recent years.

Carrot Top is jacked.

About that competitive comment?

Midway through the second quarter the Western Conference is leading 65-46 and it?s getting boring fast.

Kevin Garnett?s block towards the end of the second quarter was a thing of beauty.

I wonder how many people skipped the first half of the game to watch Eva Longoria instead of Tony Parker?

It?s halftime and the race for MVP looks close. Kobe and Carmelo are leading the West, but if the East can mount a comeback the trophy will likely go to LeBron.

Do you see the USA Basketball commercial? Brad Miller and Elton Brand aren?t even playing in the all-star game, and they?re on the US team.

It?s amazing when the commentators having nothing to talk because it?s such a blowout, they had to resort to a piece on Eddie Jordan.

How many chicks do you think Craig Sager picked up in that Jeep?

Shawn Marion and I have something in common (we both idolize Reggie).

At the 1:54 mark of the third quarter, this thing is over.

Amare looks like the 2007 all-star game MVP.

Did you know Shaq had an insane handle?

Kobe could overtake Amare as the MVP ? he?s always stealing people?s thunder.

Dwight Howard is built like a house. Make that a mansion.

Game is over: The West dominated. It was like watching the Suns against the Celtics.

The MVP is? Kobe. Should have been Amare, but that?s just my opinion.

Too bad the game didn?t turn out to be much of a contest. Regardless it was a great all-star celebration ? now let?s get the second half of the season underway!
