The Lakers wanted to trade Shaquille O?Neal to the Eastern Conference and accomplished that and will likely attempt to do the same if they decide to trade Kobe Bryant. Since any team will have their roster largely decimated in order to acquire Bryant, then he would be thankful to climb back to the Finals in the clearly much less talented conference.
Their number one priority, however, has to be getting the most value back possible and below is what Andrew Perna and I believe it would take to get the Lakers on the phone. Several teams were omitted, such as the Cavaliers, Raptors and Heat since those teams don't have any players beyond their own franchise centerpiece to make a trade work.
Bryant remains the best player in the game and is a long ways away from no longer being a member of the Lakers and as surprising as Wednesday's news was, it would be shocking if 24 isn't in Los Angeles at the start of this season.
