Shane Battier, 2000-01 College Player of the Year, has been in Chicago before, writes Scott Merkin, special to the Chicago Tribune.  Two summers ago he was interning for a public relations firm on Wacker Drive and living in a high-rise just minutes from Navy Pier.  But Sunday he worked out for the Bulls and immediately realised what he can bring to the team.  "I can add grit to this team, become a defensive stopper and help the Bulls win more games," Battier said.

It also seems Battier is not the only Dukie to have a soft spot for the Windy City, with coach Mike Krzyzewski a big fan.  "A week never went by without a story about Chicago [from Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski]," Battier said. "From the way he talked, he really loved the city. I fell in love with the city when I was here two years ago. It's one of the great cities in the world, which really makes this workout today exciting for me."
