John Denton of the Florida Today reports: The demand for Davis was never more evident than on Monday. After leaving the lavish hotel suite arranged for him and his wife by the Orlando Magic, Davis was treated to a brunch at the mansion of Magic president Bob Vander Weide. Later Monday afternoon, Davis listened to a sales pitch from Toronto Raptors general manager Glen Grunwald. Then Monday night, Davis and agent Bill Duffy dined in Orlando and sifted through the proposals they have received from nine NBA teams.
The Magic will meet today with free agent Marc Jackson, a fall-back option in case they are unable to sign Davis. The Golden State forward made a strong run at the Rookie of the Year award, averaging 13.2 points and 7.5 rebounds in 48 games before injuring his hamstring. The Warriors can offer their 1997 second-round pick-he spent three seasons playing in Europe before making the NBA - just their $4.5 mid-level exception.
"Absolutely, Antonio was very impressed with (the Magic)," said Duffy, whose client also is being courted by Houston, Detroit, Philadelphia, Seattle, Atlanta, Golden State and New York. "They left an indelible impression on him."
