Stephen A Smith of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that the Sixers and Dikembe Mutombo have reached an agreement. The deal cannot be signed until July 18th, but the contract is belived to be for 5 years and more than $13 million per season with an annual 12.5 percent raise and a 15 percent trade kicker.

In Related news, Phil Jasner of the Philadelphia Daily News reports that The Sixers are interested in bringing in Mutombo's ex-teammate Christian Laettner. It is unclear whether the Sixers plan to sign Laettner with their Mid-Class Exception (approximately $4.5 mil) or acquire him in a sign and trade with the Wizards. Signing him with the exception would seem to be the least complicated, but it will likely push the Sixers team salary over the Luxury Tax Limit. A sign and trade will be more "Luxury Tax Friendly" but requires the cooperation of the Wizards. Laettner's Agent has confirmed that there are several teams showing intrest in Laettner and that he would be interested in joining the Sixers, but they are also exploring the possibilities of bringing Laettner back in a Wizards uniform.
