Markelle Fultz Could Be Out For Remainder Of Season

Feb 9, 2018 10:36 AM

Markelle Fultz could miss the remainder of his rookie season with ongoing shoulder issues.

"There's always a chance that he's going to be out there soon, and there's a chance that he's not going to play this year. I can't answer that question because we don't know the answer to that," said Bryan Colangelo.

Colangelo said Fultz's shooting range is "in the paint right now."

Fultz has played in only four games this season and has been out since October 23rd. The 76ers are still not sure if changing his shot caused the injury, or if the injury caused the change in his shot.

“It’s been tough, but at the end of the day, I know it’s gonna make me better,” Fultz said this week. “It’s been a long journey just trying to re-learn it, I’m just going through it and I wanna go back out there as quick as I can but it’s been a slow process.”

Fultz was the No. 1 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.

Grizzlies Continue To Seek FRP For Tyreke Evans

Feb 8, 2018 8:05 AM

The Memphis Grizzlies continue to seek a first round pick in exchange for Tyreke Evans.

The Boston Celtics, Denver Nuggets and Philadelphia 76ers are interested in acquiring Evans but are reluctant to part with a first round pick or a young player.

While Evans is on an affordable expiring contract, he would be a pure rental for any team trading for him as they would not hold his Bird rights and need to use cap space to re-sign him.

Evans signed a one-year, $3.3 million contract with the Grizzlies last offseason and is averaging 19.5 points per game.

Simmons tied for the lead among Eastern Conference rookies in scoring (17.1 ppg) and led all first-year NBA players in assists (6.7 apg) in January. He also paced East rookies in steals (1.42 spg), ranked second among all rookies in field goal percentage (59.7) and added 5.3 rebounds. The 6-10 guard/forward helped the 76ers post a 7-5 record, including two wins over the San Antonio Spurs and one each against the Boston Celtics and the Toronto Raptors. On Jan. 24, Simmons reached a triple-double early in the third quarter and finished with 19 points, 17 rebounds and 14 assists in a 115-101 home win over the Chicago Bulls.

In his final two games of January, Mitchell scored 26 points in a 97-93 victory at the Toronto Raptors on Jan. 26, followed by 20 points, four assists and four steals in a 129-99 home win over the Golden State Warriors. Those two victories gave Utah a 6-7 record for the month.

Brett Brown Denies Saying Markelle Fultz Suffering 'Psychosomatic Effects'

Jan 30, 2018 11:37 AM

During an ESPN telecast of the 76ers and Thunder last week, announcer Mark Jones said Brett Brown disclosed in a production meeting that Markelle Fultz has “psychosomatic effects” with his shooting.

Fultz responded on Twitter, writing “You really can’t trust  NO ONE!!!”

Brown denied the characterization shared by Jones.

“I was completely misquoted,” Brown said. “There was no reference to any of that. I’ve spoken to ESPN this morning. They’re very apologetic.

“Markelle Fultz’s injury has been well documented. I have talked about this hundreds and hundreds of times.”

According to Brown, there are times when Fultz still feels pain when rising up to shoot jumpers.

“Last night’s erroneous reporting was disappointing,” he said, calling it “a poor choice of words. That was admitted. We move on.”

Brown said he doesn’t begrudge Fultz for feeling that way due to “hearing that type of reporting.”

“He knows the organization,” Brown said. “He knows me. It doesn’t require much more to be said than that. We have a responsibility to help him. I think any time there’s a poor choice of words like there was last night, do you blame him?”

“Hopefully, I will play [Monday].”

Embiid has missed at least one game of the five back-to-back situations the Sixers have had this season.
