If the Miami Heat eventually agree to a Damian Lillard trade with the Portland Trail Blazers, sources tell Jake Fischer that there are a number of possible teams who could be on the receiving end of Tyler Herro.

The Utah Jazz, Chicago Buls, Charlotte Hornets and Brooklyn Nets are considered the teams interested in Herro.

Herro is entering Year 1 of a four-year, $130 million extension with the Heat.

Elfrid Payton worked out for the Minnesota Timberwolves and Charlotte Hornets, reported Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

The 29-year-old played in 50 games for the Suns during the 2021-22 season. 

The Miami Heat are widely expected to sign Kelly Oubre Jr. if they eventually trade for Damian Lillard this offseason, reports Marc Stein of Substack.

Oubre is the most prominent player who remains a free agent. Oubre averaged 20.3 points and 5.2 rebounds in 32.2 minutes with the Charlotte Hornets.

Oubre is coming off a two-year, $26 million contracts with the Hornets.

The Charlotte Hornets will honor Baron Davis and Gerald Wallace in separate ceremonies next season, the team announced on Thursday. 

Davis is set to be honored on November 18, with Wallace to be recognized on February 10.

Both players will take part in halftime ceremonies acknowledging their time with the franchise.

Davis was the third pick in the 1999 NBA Draft, with Wallace coming to the Hornets through the 2004 expansion draft. 

The Charlotte Hornets waived guard Kobi Simmons. Simmons was on a non-guaranteed contract for this upcoming season.

Simmons appeared in five NBA games for the Hornets last season. He had his two-way deal converted to a standard contract in early-April.

In 46 games for the Greensboro Swarm, Charlotte's G League affiliate, Simmons averaged 19.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. Simmons has played three of the last four seasons for the Swarm, with the lone exception being the 2021-22 season when the 6-foot-5 guard played in Poland.

PJ Washington and the Charlotte Hornets have agreed to a three-year, $48 million deal.

Washington has been a restricted free agent this offseason and the Hornets were widely expected to match any reasonable offer sheet with a rival team.

Washington averaged 15.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 73 games last season.

The Charlotte Hornets unveiled a new Classic Edition jersey on Wednesday to celebrate the franchise's 35 year anniversary.

The jersey features a teal silhouette with multi-colored double pinstripes, paying tribute to the jerseys the team wore from 1997-2002.

“We’re pleased to introduce a new Classic Edition uniform to be worn as part of our celebration of the 35^th Anniversary of the Charlotte Hornets inaugural season,” said Hornets President & Vice Chairman Fred Whitfield. “Throughout our history, the Hornets have been recognized for fashionable uniform designs, and we know our fans will be excited to see the look that our team wore from 1997-2002 back on the court in Charlotte.” 

The Hornets will wear the uniforms for eight home games this season. 

The Charlotte Hornets signed Tre Scott to an Exhibit 10 deal, sources told Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

Scott averaged 17.4 points for the Greensboro Swarm last season. 

Restricted free agent P.J. Washington is reportedly looking for a deal worth $20 million per season, sources told Chris Fedor of cleveland.com.

The Hornets are currently not willing to give Washington a long-term deal, according to reports.

Fedor adds that the Cavs have expressed interest in a sign-and-trade for Washington, though there have been no meaningful trade discussions.
